Well, here I am, 12 whole minutes late for my Canada Day post. It’s now July 2nd in most of the world, but I’d just like to take a second to reflect on the fact that it’s been 140 years since Canada was first declared a country under the British-North America act of the British Parliament back in 1867 creating the dominion of Canada.
Over the next 115 years several other iterations of the BNA act would be passed in the British House of Commons at the request of the Canadian Parliament. This continued until the Canada Act of 1982 which gave Canada sovereignty over its own constitution.
There’s a mini history lesson. It’s now 22 minutes into the 141st year. ![]()
